Opportunities For Ministries and Service
Shoe Box Ministry
Since 1993 Operation Christmas Child, a division of Samaritan’s Purse, has sent Christmas Shoe Boxes to children around the world who have endured difficult circumstances: war, poverty, loss of family, weather disasters, etc. Every Shoe Box is an opportunity to share the gospel and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. We work year-round to prepare the boxes and hold fund raisers to pay to ship the boxes. Please click on the Shoe Box tab under Ministries to learn more. If you have questions about this ministry or wish to sign up for emails regarding our activities, please call Marilyn Wood at 352-861-4678 or 203-560-0273.
Anglican 4th Day
Members of our Church who have attended Cursillo or A4D weekend meet regularly in small groups to share their Christian Walk. We also have quarterly Ultreya meetings. This weekend is a retreat on Christian living and responsibility. It is both intense and fun. If you have an interest in attending or being a sponsor for someone attending, please call Debi Johnson at the church office 352-351-9727.
Knitters and Stitchers
We gather together to knit, crochet, or quilt while visiting with one another, encouraging each other, and teaching beginners these crafts. We have created countless prayer shawls, baby blankets, and lap throws that have been distributed to those in need. This ministry is one of prayer and care for others started by Gail Tuck in September 2008. We welcome anyone interested in knitting, crocheting, or quilting. Please contact Michelle Wisham, 352 454-3505 firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information or join us at 6 pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.
We welcome all Seniors, both men and women, to bring a side dish and gather for a pot luck luncheon and short program on the 4th Friday of each month in the North Hall. Contact Peg Wallace 352-578-8174 for more details.
Centering Prayer is a method of silence that allows us to experience God’s presence within us. Come and sit with us every Monday 5:30 – 6:30 pm in the South Hall. Contact Gus Galloway at 352-572-9107 for additional information or Robin in the Church Office at 352-351-9727.
Daughters of the Holy Cross
The vision of the Order of the Daughters of the Holy Cross is to gather Anglican women and girls into a nurturing and empowering community. We are called to be servants of Jesus as He unites and builds up His Body, the Church. We meet the third Monday of every month at 4 pm to serve the Church and the community in practical ways. Please call Diane Townsend at 352-237-0815 for more information
Daughters of the King
This is an Order of Women who take a vow of prayer and service. One of their ministries is to provide receptions for funerals. Members accompany the priest every Wednesday to visit our parish shut-ins. We meet the second Monday of the month at noon in the North Hall. Contact Alana Baxter at 352-895-7629 to learn more about this group.
St. Claire’s Guild
We hand make and repair the linens that adorn the altar and serving tables for Holy Eucharist. Call Mary White at 352-598-1702 for more information.
The Altar Guild sets up and clears the liturgical furnishings for all Church services and for services at Grace Christian School. It maintains the linen, vestments, and altar vessels. Members are scheduled every few weeks. This important group is always looking for new members. There is no experience needed as training is provided. Contact Bev McGee at 352-817-1562.
If singing is your joy, please join us every Thursday at 7:15 pm for Choir practice. We sing every Sunday at the 10:15 am service. For more details contact Bryan Pyle email@example.com.
As Greeters, we seek to welcome everyone who comes to both the 8 am and 10:15 am Worship Services. We place a special emphasis on greeting first time attenders and have the privilege of presenting them with a very special Welcome Bag at the end of each service. If you would like to help in this vital ministry, please call Fran Christman at 407-953-9226.
CTKA Meal Program
This ministry provides meals to those who are unable to prepare their own meals due to illness, bereavement, or other special circumstances. If you like to cook and would be willing to occasionally provide a meal, please call Jennifer DeHaan at 352-622-1529.
A Stephen Minister is a member of our congregation who is trained to listen, care, encourage, pray, and walk along side someone during difficult times. “Bear one another’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Gal 6:2. If this touches your heart contact Cynthia Cummings at 352-620-2697 to learn more about the commitment and training.
Adults and children are needed to serve as Acolytes at our church services. Boys and girls can start serving at age 8 and training sessions are provided twice a year. Duties include, but are not limited to, lighting the candles, presenting the flag, and assisting the priest during the Eucharist celebration. If you have a child who is interested in this training call Mark Porter at 863-559-8154 and leave a message for further information.
The Flower Guild is responsible for altar flowers each Sunday, decorating the sanctuary for Christmas and Easter, and flowers for funerals. If you love flowers and would like to be part of this very special ministry call Lori Tani at 352-229-3923.
This ministry provides repair work of various kinds – carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, etc. – around the home for members of our congregation who are no longer able to handle these tasks. If you have a skill you are willing to share or have a need for this work, please contact Steve Forrest at 352-694-7673.
This is a ministry of prayer during Eucharist. It is done in teams of two at the back of the sanctuary. Because the name and reason for prayers are given, confidentiality is a must. For more information please call Carol Green at 352-237-7691.
