Children's Ministry

Creating an atmosphere where “Jesus Christ is King.”

Christ the King Anglican Church Ocala

Christ the King believes that children are vital members of our church, based on what Jesus
taught in Matthew 19:14: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the
kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” They are not just the Church “of the future,” but
members of the Church NOW! We believe that it is our responsibility to give them the tools and
opportunities to establish a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ. Children engage in a children’s sermon during our 10:15 service. On select Sundays we intentionally invite students to remain in the service to worship alongside the adults, which develops the habit of corporate worship and engagement with the entire Body of Christ. A nursery is also available for your littlest ones on Sundays from 10 am until the end of the service. During the school year, Wednesday nights are filled with fellowship and discipleship to bring God’s truth into the hearts of our children. In the summer, don’t miss our Vacation Bible School (VBS) week of fun and learning about God’s great love for us!

Kids with sheep craft

Children’s Sermon Pre-K – 5th Grade are invited to join us for a children’s sermon during the 10:15 am Sunday service. Children meet up with the teachers to the right of the Sanctuary at 10:15 am. Once children have gathered, they will sit together through the beginning of the service and worship with the adult congregation until the time of the Gospel reading. At the time of the Gospel reading, the children will process to the front of the altar with the children’s cross, where they will be prayed over by a member of the clergy. The children will process out to the Narthex with their teachers and receive a children’s sermon on the same Scripture passage as the adult congregation. After the sermon, kids will receive a craft or coloring page to complete at home and rejoin the adult congregation for the Nicene Creed, Prayers of the People, Confession, and Communion. We pray that including the children in the worship service will teach them to appreciate worshiping with the whole Body of Christ and ensure they stay connected with the global Church after graduating from Youth and Children’s Ministry.

Nursery Ministry Our Nursery is available for children newborn-4 years of age on Sundays from 10 am until the end of the service. It is located in the Narthex, just to the left of the front door across from the restrooms. During this time, your littlest ones will receive a Bible story, interactive play, prayer, and a snack. Safety and quality trainings have been provided to our Nursery staff so that you can feel comfortable trusting us with your most precious ones. There is also a Wiggle Room in the back of the sanctuary if you prefer to keep your child with you during the service.

Wednesday Nights Wednesday classes begin in late August and end in the month of May. Class times run from 5:30-7:30 PM, ranging from children in Kindergarten through High School. Parent pick-up will be in the upper parking lot next to the sanctuary entrance. We realize that parents are the primary disciplers of their children, but we are eager to partner with you in this task!

Vacation Bible School Every summer, we host a hands-on Vacation Bible School Program. The themes for this program vary from year to year but one constant remains the same, “We offer a host of Biblically-based activities that will help children know, love, and serve the living God.” This program runs from Monday through Friday from 9:00 am till noon.

Camp Araminta For our rising 4th -6th graders, Camp Araminta is a week-long camp in Lake Swan, FL. Most of the participants are from other Anglican churches across Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Each year students are taught one of the five essential components of discipleship (Creation, Gospel, Community, Holiness, and Mission) among an intergenerational mentorship program. There’s also various recreational activities like tubing, swimming, crafts, music, archery, canoeing, ropes course, games, etc.
